Person of interest detained following injuries to 4 individuals in Texas high school shooting

Four students were injured, three with gunshot wounds, after a shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas. The injured students were between the ages of 15 and 18, with injuries ranging from serious to non-life-threatening. The gunman had been identified but was initially at large before being arrested hours later. The school had a shooting incident last year as well.

Students were seen evacuating the building after the shooting, which occurred around 1 p.m. Authorities did not reveal how the gunman managed to bring the gun into the building or what led to the shooting. The district superintendent expressed dismay over the incident, stating that such incidents should not be happening frequently.

Officials confirmed that the gun did not enter the building during the primary intake period when students pass through metal detectors. Classes at the school were canceled for the rest of the week, and counselors were made available to support those affected by the shooting.

The investigation was described as ongoing and fluid, with limited information available on what led to the shooting at this time. Despite the prompt identification and arrest of the suspect, the incident has once again highlighted the issue of gun violence in schools and the need for improved safety measures.
