The luxury superyacht “Bayesian” that tragically sank off Sicily in August, claiming the lives of British tech mogul Mike Lynch and six others, is set to be raised and brought to shore next month, according to investigator Simon Graves. The 56-meter yacht was hit by a storm while anchored near Palermo, resulting in its rapid sinking and the loss of all but 15 passengers on board. Lynch, founder of software firm Autonomy, had invited friends and family to celebrate his recent acquittal in a US fraud case. Inquests are being held in the UK for Lynch and three other British victims, while investigations by both UK and Italian authorities are ongoing. The MAIB is planning to publish an interim report online in the coming weeks, with a final report to follow. The timeline for the final inquest hearing in the UK will depend on the progress of the criminal investigations. The tragic incident claimed the lives of seven individuals, including Lynch and his daughter, as well as prominent British nationals and other crew members. The retrieval operation for the yacht is scheduled to begin on April 26, with the goal of having the vessel on dry land by the end of May. The investigation into what led to the sinking will continue in the upcoming months, shedding light on any breaches of maritime legislation that may have occurred.
