The Nevada Women’s Tennis team secured their 16th win of the season in a thrilling 4-3 victory over San José State. The match was a back-and-forth battle between two teams tied for second place in the Mountain West conference. Nevada earned their first doubles point at home in conference play, with standout performances from Wiem Boubaker and Petra Janigova. Amahée Charrier extended her single-season wins record, while Marlene Foerster clinched the victory with a dominant performance.
The win ties a program record for most wins in a season, set in 1991-92. With hopes of securing the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, Nevada must rely on rival UNLV to defeat San Diego State, while also winning their upcoming match against New Mexico. The match against the Lobos will also serve as senior day, honoring graduate student Lou-Anne Guerbert.
Nevada’s success on the court has positioned them as strong contenders in the final week of the season, with the potential for a share of the regular season championship within reach. Their next match against New Mexico will take place at 12 p.m. on Thursday.
