While the Clark County School District already has a school assignment change process, known as COSA, the proposed bill would establish a standard, statewide policy for school choice. Two students testified in support of the bill, sharing how choosing their schools had a positive impact on their academic journey.
Assemblymember David Orentlicher expressed concerns about transportation disadvantages for low-income families, but Torres-Fossett remains confident that families will find ways to ensure their children can attend their chosen schools.
