Although Trump initially suggested facilitating Abrego Garcia’s return, he later emphasized cooperation with El Salvador’s President Bukele to handle violent criminals. Abrego Garcia’s lawyers are seeking court action to ensure compliance with the order for his return and to hold the government accountable for its failure so far. The man, a legal resident mistakenly sent to El Salvador, is not an MS-13 gang member as claimed by the administration. The government had requested more time to provide information on his status and had previously admitted to an “administrative error” in sending him to El Salvador. A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday to assess the government’s progress in bringing Abrego Garcia back to the US.
