Sheila Story, chief nurse for Carson City School District, has been named 2024-25 School Nurse Administrator of the Year by the Nevada State Association of School Nurses. Out of 11 nominees and 138 school nurses in Nevada, Story was recognized for her dedication to student health and safety, leadership, and commitment to advancing school nursing in the state. With nearly 25 years in school health, Story has improved health services for students in Carson City. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she coordinated testing, contact tracing, and vaccination clinics within the district. Story holds a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Public Health from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is a leader in school health services, public health, and nursing education, proficient in policy development, employee training, and emergency response. As an adjunct professor at the Orvis School of Nursing, she guides aspiring nurses to promote excellence in student healthcare.
