Countywide Arts Events and Performances: A Roundup

Caleb Cage, an Army veteran and native of Reno, will present selections from his book “Desert Mementos: Stories of Iraq and Nevada” on Saturday at the Churchill Arts Council. The collection of short stories explores the similarities and differences between the desert landscapes of Iraq and Nevada, as well as the human needs and experiences of soldiers during the early stages of the Iraq War. The event will include a reading and reception.

In addition to Cage’s presentation, the Churchill Arts Council will continue its Spring Film Series with a screening of Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom” on Friday. The film follows the story of two young lovers who run away on a small New England island. The series will also feature a performance by the Portland Cello Project on April 19, and the Reno Phil Orchestra and Chorus performing Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets for these events can be purchased by calling 775-423-1440 or visiting the Churchill Arts Council website. Don’t miss out on these unique and diverse cultural experiences in Fallon.
