A family from Spain and a pilot were killed in a helicopter crash in the Hudson River while touring the New York City area. The incident occurred when the chopper lost its propeller and plummeted into the water. Witnesses reported hearing a loud sound, possibly indicating engine failure, before the helicopter went down. The Bell 206 helicopter had departed from downtown Manhattan and was flying along the New York City side of the river when it lost control near the George Washington Bridge. Calls to 911 operators came in as bystanders attempted to help. The helicopter crashed inverted into the water, with the cabin piece visible above the surface. There were three adults and three children on board at the time of the crash. The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. New York City Mayor Eric Adams expressed his condolences to the family during a press conference, stating the investigation is ongoing, and the family members are being lifted up in prayer.
