American Battery Technology Company (NASDAQ: ABAT) has successfully completed its fourth drill program at the Tonopah Flats Lithium Project (TFLP) in Nevada, showcasing progress in domestic lithium production. The company engaged True North Drilling to execute the program, which consisted of 8 HQ core holes ranging from 763 to 985 feet in depth. This development aligns with efforts to increase domestic critical mineral production and strengthen the U.S. battery supply chain.
ABAT has partnered with Barr Engineering for mine plan development and a prefeasibility study (PFS), building upon the identified 21.2 million tons of economical lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) at TFLP. The company has successfully produced battery-grade lithium hydroxide from TFLP claystone and is working with Black & Veatch to construct a 30,000-tonnes-per-year commercial-scale lithium hydroxide refinery on-site. Despite being in the pre-feasibility stage, this progress marks a significant step towards achieving commercial production and supporting national security initiatives.
