Rep. Mark Amodei, Nevada’s only Republican member of Congress, is facing criticism for not speaking out more and not holding town halls. In a recent interview, he discussed his stance on various issues, including tariffs, the Signal chat controversy, Elon Musk’s DOGE effort, and his potential run for re-election in 2026.
Regarding tariffs, Amodei called the back-and-forth over President Trump’s proposed tariffs a ‘game of chicken’ and said he supports the effort generally, but would continue to monitor its impacts. He also criticized the handling of confidential information in the Signal chat controversy and expressed support for Musk’s DOGE effort. Amodei pushed back against cuts to certain programs and advocated for funding for projects in Nevada.
Despite expressing a desire to not be in Congress for the rest of his life, Amodei confirmed that he plans to run for an 8th full term in 2026.
