Galena High School junior Alyssa Dixon has been selected as Nevada Sports Net’s “High School Prep of the Week” for her outstanding achievements in track and field and soccer. Dixon, a talented sprinter, long jumper, and soccer player, has excelled in both sports throughout her high school career.
Dixon’s athletic journey began when she decided to follow in the footsteps of her older siblings who competed for Galena’s track and field team. Since then, she has proven herself to be a top-tier athlete, winning multiple regional medals in the 100, 200, 400 meters, and long jump.
In 2024, Dixon clinched four regional medals, securing silver in the 100, 200, 400, and long jump. She also earned her first state medal by finishing third in the long jump. Now a junior, Dixon is aiming to continue her success this season and has already set school records in the 100 and 200 meters.
Galena High track and field coach Justin Alian commended Dixon for her unparalleled dedication and talent, emphasizing her unique ability to excel in multiple events. He highlighted Dixon’s commitment and work ethic as key factors contributing to her success on the track.
