Press Release:
Reno, NV- An annual ceremony to honor Vietnam War veterans will be held on March 29 at Truckee Meadows Community College. The event, featuring the commanding officer of the U.S. Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Center as the keynote speaker, is a nonpolitical, free event open to the public.
This year’s ceremony will commemorate the last American troops leaving Saigon on April 30, 1975, and will have military and outreach organizations available to provide information or answer questions starting at 1 p.m. The theme for this year’s Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Day is “Honor & Sacrifice,” presented by Vietnam veterans, Gold Star families, and other veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Guest speakers include Congressman Mark Amodei, Nevada’s Adjutant General Brig. Gen. D. Rodger “Dan” Waters, and other prominent figures. The event is organized by J.R. Stafford and his wife Brigitte, who have been supporting veterans in Northern Nevada since 2017. The ceremony, which began in 2019, continues to grow as more veterans and their families come together to remember and honor those who served.
