The president of the KMA, Evelyn Jones, highlights the importance of preventative medicine and finding a primary care provider. She emphasizes the significance of early screenings for conditions like colorectal and lung cancer, stressing the need for Kentuckians to know when to begin screening for various illnesses.
Tobacco use is a key component of the initiative, with efforts to help individuals quit and find healthier alternatives to smoking. Doctors recommend substituting bad habits with healthier alternatives, like going for short walks and practicing stress-relieving techniques.
Managing stress is also crucial for overall health, as unchecked stress can lead to various health conditions, including heart disease. Making small changes to diet and incorporating minimal exercise can lead to significant improvements in health.
The KMA hopes that by taking small steps towards healthier lifestyles, Kentuckians can collectively make the state a healthier place. The initiative aims to provide resources and support to help individuals make sustainable changes for better health outcomes.
