Nevada Sports Net (NSN) is highlighting one of the Wolf Pack’s standout athletes in its “Five Questions” series featured on Wolf Pack All Access. This week’s spotlight is on senior baseball player, Michael Ball, who hails from Beaverton, Oregon. Ball transferred to Nevada in 2022 after spending a season at Everett Community College.
In his four seasons with the Wolf Pack, Ball has made his mark as a talented shortstop, appearing in 91 games and boasting an impressive slash line of .300/.357/.531. His breakout 2024 season solidified his status as a key player for the team, earning him a spot on the All-MW second team with a .310 batting average, 22 doubles, 10 home runs, and 55 RBIs.
This season, Ball has continued to impress with a .300 average, three doubles, six homers, and 16 RBIs in just 16 games. He was recognized as the Mountain West player of the week after a stellar performance against San Francisco, including a game-winning grand slam in the series opener.
Despite his modest stature at 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, Ball’s power at the plate has been a driving force for the Wolf Pack. His strong slugging percentage of .600 and on-base percentage of 37.2% have solidified his position as Nevada’s starting shortstop.
