Kalmar has officially begun selling the Kalmar Ottawa Electric Terminal Tractor (OT2 EV) at the Technology & Maintenance Council’s 2025 Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition in Nashville, Tennessee. This new electric terminal tractor is the third generation developed by Kalmar Ottawa and is manufactured at the company’s Ottawa, Kansas facility. There are four different models available, designed for container ports and terminals, as well as distribution applications, including an on-road version for North America.
The OT2 EV has undergone rigorous testing, including performance testing in extreme temperatures ranging from -22°F to 122°F. Charging solutions with CCS1 connectors allow for fast charging in under an hour, making it convenient for operators to charge as needed. Thor Brenden, President of Terminal Tractors at Kalmar, stated that the company has focused on innovation and sustainability in the development of the OT2 EV, aiming to make it the most efficient terminal tractor on the market.
In addition to this new product release, Kalmar recently renewed its service agreement with PSA Singapore, the largest container transshipment hub globally. This agreement covers maintenance and repair work on PSA Singapore’s cargo-handling fleet. Kalmar continues to make strides in the terminal tractor industry, offering innovative and sustainable solutions for the transportation and logistics sector.
