Boston Red Sox Celebrity Event Series raises over $400,000 for charity

The 32nd Annual Red Sox Celebrity Classic series recently raised over $400,000 to benefit a new pediatric surgery center at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. The series included events such as the Boston Tee Party, the 32nd Annual Celebrity Golf Classic, and Dinner on the Diamond. These events featured appearances by Red Sox players, sports celebrities, and auctions with memorabilia and luxury items.

Katy Martinez, Senior Director of Development for Lee Health Foundation, expressed gratitude for the support from donors and sponsors, emphasizing the impact on healthcare in the region. The event series has raised a total of $15.8 million since 1993, supporting various healthcare initiatives over the years.

This year, the funds raised will specifically benefit the development of the new Golisano Children’s Hospital Pediatric Surgery Center. The center aims to provide exceptional care to children and families by improving efficiencies, reducing wait times, lowering costs, and enhancing access to emergency services.

Sponsors of the series included The Forest Country Club, Boston Red Sox, Hall Render Killian Heath & Lyman, and others. Donations to support the pediatric surgery center are still being accepted through Lee Health Foundation’s website.

Golisano Children’s Hospital, part of Lee Health, is nationally recognized for safety and quality care, serving patients from six surrounding counties with over 500,000 visits annually. The hospital offers more than 30 specialty pediatric services and opened a new building in 2017 with 135 beds and comprehensive neonatal and pediatric services. More information can be found on Golisano Children’s Hospital website.
