The County of Barrhead is gearing up to host its first-ever Rural Lifestyle Expo, scheduled for early May or late April. The council recently approved $2,900 in seed money to kickstart the event, which aims to showcase the rural way of life and celebrate the community’s achievements. Residents have expressed a desire for more events that celebrate the rural lifestyle, prompting the county to take action.
The expo will feature a full-day event highlighting services, attractions, and key businesses available in Barrhead County. Vendors will be invited to participate for free, with presentations on topics such as FireSmart and rural crime prevention. The event aims to educate and engage the public about rural living while positioning the county as a leader in community development.
In addition to the expo, the county recently hosted a successful business conference called LIFT, which featured guest speakers and a tradeshow with over 100 companies. The county is planning a sequel to the conference and looks forward to combining the expo with the annual appreciation dinner to maximize attendance and minimize costs. Although the proposed date of May 3 has raised concerns about timing, the county is determined to provide a platform for residents to interact with staff and administration in an informal setting.
