Russia launched heavy aerial attacks on Ukraine for a second night after the United States stopped sharing satellite images with the Ukrainian government. At least 22 people have been killed in the attacks. The U.S. decision to withhold intelligence and military aid came after a White House visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as President Trump is pressuring Ukraine to accept a peace deal with Russia. Without U.S. satellite imagery, Ukraine’s ability to strike inside Russia and defend itself is reduced.
The attacks have resulted in multiple casualties, with 11 people killed in Donetsk and other regions of Ukraine. Russian drone attacks have also caused deaths and injuries. Russian missiles targeted a town in Ukraine, injuring dozens including children. Recent attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities have disrupted essential services.
Zelenskyy did not mention intelligence-sharing but welcomed Trump’s proposal for sanctions and tariffs on Russia to achieve a ceasefire. He also plans to discuss peace proposals in Saudi Arabia. Ukrainian and Russian troops have engaged in drone warfare, with both sides shooting down drones over each other’s territories.
While the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, efforts for peace negotiations are ongoing. Zelenskyy remains committed to seeking peace and is open to realistic proposals to end the war. The situation remains volatile as the exchange of attacks between Russian and Ukrainian forces continues.
