Congresswoman Susie Lee has introduced a bipartisan bill aimed at addressing the shortage of doctors in Southern Nevada. Nevada currently ranks 45th in the nation for its physician-to-resident ratio, with all 17 counties in the state designated as health professional shortage areas. Speaking at the University Medical Center, Lee emphasized the critical need for more physicians in the state, which currently has 218 physicians per 100,000 people.
During the event, Lee called on Governor Joe Lombardo to advocate against proposed Medicaid cuts, noting that over 811,000 Nevadans are enrolled in the program. She stressed the importance of ensuring access to healthcare for all residents, regardless of their insurance status. Lee urged congressional Republicans to oppose the proposed cuts, stating that it is up to them to prioritize the health and well-being of Nevada’s residents.
The bill introduced by Lee aims to address the doctor shortage issue in Southern Nevada and improve access to healthcare for all residents.
