In an exciting game, Michael Ball’s ninth-inning grand slam led Nevada to a 7-6 victory over San Francisco. The Wolf Pack’s fourth consecutive win was thanks to Ball’s heroics, after Taylor Holder, Jackson Waller, and Jake Harvey set up the grand slam with three singles in the ninth. Closer Ethan O’Neal then struck out the side in the ninth to secure his second save of the season.
Despite a two-run single by Sean Yamaguchi in the third giving Nevada a 3-1 lead, the Dons rallied in the sixth inning with a grand slam from Eddison Esquivel to take a 5-3 lead. San Francisco added an unearned run in the seventh to make it 6-3, but the Wolf Pack fought back for the win.
Reliever Dominic Desch got the win, giving up just one hit and an unearned run over two innings of relief. Starter Peyton Fosher struck out three and was charged with four earned runs over six innings.
Ball was one of four Nevada batters with two hits on the night, along with Holder, Waller, and Harvey, who combined for six hits and four runs scored. The teams will face off again on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Benedetti Diamond.
The thrilling game highlights Nevada’s continued success on the road, as they look to extend their winning streak in the series against San Francisco.
