Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford joins legal action to prevent widespread federal job cuts

Attorney General Aaron Ford, along with a coalition of 19 other attorneys general, has filed a motion for a temporary restraining order to stop the Trump administration’s mass layoffs of federal employees. The layoffs, targeting probationary workers, have been announced by federal agencies as part of the administration’s efforts to curb spending. The attorneys general argue that the firings are causing “irreparable injuries” to Nevada and other states by straining resources and leaving employees unemployed.

The attorneys general claim that the administration did not provide the required 60 days’ notice to the states before laying off probationary employees. Ford stated that Nevada will take care of the laid-off employees, but the financial burden placed on the states without planning is unfair.

This legal action is part of a series of challenges Ford has made against the Trump administration, including issues related to government efficiency, grant freezes, birthright citizenship, and funding cuts to medical and public health research. The coalition of attorneys general involved in the lawsuit includes representatives from Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, and other states, as well as the District of Columbia.

The White House has not yet commented on the lawsuit. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided. For more information, contact Jessica Hill at jehill@reviewjournal.com. Follow @jess_hillyeah on X.
