The Nevada City Public Arts Commission is seeking public input for a proposed public art project at the Broad Street “Y” intersection. The project will potentially include a 12×20 ft art installation in addition to benches and lighting. The budget has not been set yet, and local artists with ties to the community will likely be considered for the project. The survey is open to the public until March 26, 2025, with results to be presented at an April meeting.
The top of Broad Street is currently undergoing construction as part of the Broad Street “Y” Project, with changes made to accommodate resident feedback, including new LED streetlights and curb extensions at crosswalks. Waterline repairs have been completed with the goal of completing the project by June. Public input is being gathered on themes, materials, and styles for the art installation, with a focus on reflecting the city’s history and culture. Survey responses can be viewed online for further feedback and discussion.
