Tallulah, who weighed only 14.8 pounds when found with open sores and wounds, is now receiving care from Vegas Pet Rescue Project, which has already spent over $4,000 on her vet bills and is raising funds for her continued treatment.
In response to ongoing incidents of animal abuse, state lawmakers are considering a new proposal, AB136, which would require pet-related businesses to post notices containing contact information for local animal control. This measure aims to make it easier for the public to report instances of abuse and ensure that authorities are notified promptly.
Supporters of AB136 argue that increased awareness and reporting are crucial in preventing further cases of cruelty, citing past incidents like that of Mora, where dogs died at a boarding facility without authorities being notified. While some have expressed concerns about the bill, stating that the general public may not always know how to properly care for animals, advocates believe that increased visibility of reporting mechanisms is a critical step in addressing the issue.
