Churchill County Manager Jim Barbee, a former director of the Nevada Department of Agriculture, has been selected as the Distinguished Alumni for the College of Agriculture at California State University, Chico. Barbee, who graduated from Chico State in 1995 with a degree in Agriculture, will be honored at the university’s 30th annual awards program. With a background in agriculture and education, Barbee has been recognized for his work in the agricultural community and his commitment to preserving the agricultural lifestyle in Churchill County.
Barbee has served as the Churchill County manager since 2018, where he focuses on guiding the county in its strategic vision of economic development while maintaining the agricultural heritage of the community. Barbee’s dedication to agriculture and community connectivity has shaped his career and led to his recognition as a Distinguished Alumni.
