As the Real ID deadline approaches in just over two months, the Nevada DMV is reminding residents of the requirements needed to obtain the ID. In order to get a Real ID, individuals must make an appointment with the DMV and provide documents proving their identity, social security number, and Nevada address. Once approved, the Real ID will be mailed to the individual within 10 days. The deadline for the new requirements to kick in for flying and entering federal buildings is May 7th, but individuals can still obtain a Real ID after that date. While the Real ID is optional, the DMV recommends it as it will make it easier to fly. In the absence of a Real ID, individuals can still use a passport or military ID for identification purposes.
