Sen. Nicole Cannizzaro, Majority Leader of the Nevada State Senate, will be the featured speaker at Monday’s Democratic luncheon where she will share details of The Educate Act, a $500 million education bill she is sponsoring in the 83rd session. The bill aims to establish universal prekindergarten, continue funding for teacher raises, add reporting requirements for the state’s private school scholarship program, and mandate qualifications for school officials.
In an interview, Sen. Cannizzaro emphasized that The Educate Act is crucial for saving money in the future and improving academic outcomes in Nevada, a state that has struggled with education rankings. The event is set for 1:00 PM on February 17th at Seven Grille in Max Casino, Carson City, and will also be available online via Zoom.
The luncheon is sponsored by the Democratic Central Committee and hosted by the Men’s Committee, providing free access to the public. Those interested in receiving Zoom links and videos can get in touch with Rich Dunn at richdunn@aol.com. Sen. Cannizzaro’s presentation will begin around 1:30 PM after lunch orders are taken.
The Educate Act’s proposals for education reform have generated significant interest and are expected to make a substantial impact on Nevada’s education system. Sen. Cannizzaro’s insights and vision for the bill are anticipated to be enlightening and inspire further discussion on how best to address the state’s educational challenges.
