Thousands protest in Carson City as part of national ‘50501 Movement’ demonstration • Nevada Current

Hundreds of people gathered outside the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City for the ‘50501 Movement’, a nationwide protest against President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies. The movement, which started online, aimed to have 50 protests in 50 states on one day. Protesters voiced their opposition to the Trump administration’s recent policies and Project 2025.

One protester, Irene Mendoza, passionately led chants against the administration’s deportations, citing personal experiences of discrimination and danger. The protest started with a small group and eventually grew to both sides of South Carson Street, with protesters waving signs denouncing Elon Musk and chanting “Deport Musk.”

Despite the lawmakers conducting business inside the capitol building, there was no presence of any legislators at the rally. Captain Powrie from Fernley called on local and state elected officials to stand up for minorities and protect their voices.

The protest highlighted the ongoing resistance against the Trump administration’s policies, particularly regarding immigration. Protesters emphasized the importance of fighting against fascism and racism in today’s political climate. The story was originally reported by KUNR Public Radio and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
