According to a recent survey by Noble Predictive Insights, Nevada’s Democratic-controlled state Legislature holds a lead over Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo in public trust regarding education policy positions. The survey, which queried 813 registered Nevada voters, found that 34% trust the Legislature more, while 29% trust Lombardo. The survey also asked about trust in other key issues, with Lombardo having an edge in inflation, jobs, the economy, and reducing crime.
Meanwhile, the search for the next permanent superintendent of the Clark County School District is underway, with the application window closed and first round interviews set for later this month. The district’s contracted search firm is vetting submissions to present a slate of candidates to the school board. The new superintendent is expected to be selected by March 13, following public meetings throughout the process.
In other education news, Blue Diamond Elementary School in Las Vegas has been named a 2024 National Elementary and Secondary Education Act Distinguished School for exceptional student performance and academic growth.
