Second Class of Inductees Announced for the Bishop Manogue High Athletics Hall of Fame: 14 Members to be Honored

Bishop Manogue High School will be celebrating the induction of its second athletics Hall of Fame class with a 14-person panel of inductees later this month. The class will be honored through a Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony on January 23 and January 24. The induction ceremony will be followed by halftime recognition during the Bishop Manogue boys basketball game against McQueen.

Among the inductees is Bridget Galvin-Brush, a pioneer for women’s sports who excelled in volleyball, basketball, and softball at the University of Nevada, Reno. She will be honored for her contributions to women’s athletics despite the lack of opportunities during her high school years.

Other inductees include Wayne Luckadoo, who is remembered for his 96-yard punt in a 1967 game, Jim Arden, a standout in football and track, as well as Jon Armstrong, known for his achievements in football, basketball, and baseball.

The class also includes Emily Dempsey, who broke gender barriers to compete on the boys’ golf team before advocating for the creation of a girls’ golf team. The inductees also feature Rod Mathisen, who was a three-sport standout athlete, and Fr. Don Moses, who was revered as an MVP-caliber player in football and a standout in basketball and baseball.

Additionally, Mike O’Gara will be honored for his remarkable 1970 football season, while coaches Pat and Tom Rippee will be recognized for their distinguished coaching careers at Bishop Manogue. Mike Whitemaine, a standout player in football and baseball, will also be inducted for his achievements at both the high school and collegiate level.
