Nevada Softball kicked off its season with two wins on Friday, defeating Army 4-1 and Lehigh 14-4 in Los Angeles. Ainsley Berlingeri made an impressive collegiate debut with 11 strikeouts against Army, while Haley Painter’s home run and clutch hits from Saige Alfaro and Matlyn Leetch secured the win. In the second game against Lehigh, the Pack’s offense exploded in the fourth inning, with Lexi O’Gorman, Madison Clark, and Haley Painter leading the charge. Hailey McLean and Jess McPartland showed strong performances on the mound for Nevada. Notable achievements included Aaliyah Jenkins surpassing the second-most stolen bases in Nevada history, with Madison Clark recording a career-high five RBIs. The team finished the day with a 2-0 record and looks to continue their success against California Baptist and No. 6 UCLA in upcoming games at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, Calif. Friday’s games showcased the team’s depth and talent, with several players making impactful debuts and contributions to the victories.
