Deadline approaching for Nevada health care workers to apply for loan repayment program

Applications are set to close on Thursday at 11:59 p.m. for health care providers in Nevada seeking loan repayments for working in underserved areas. The Nevada Health Equity and Loan Assistance (HEAL) Program has already received over 700 applications and will provide funding ranging from $15,000 to $120,000 in equal installments over five years. Eligible professions include social workers, dentists, and EMTs, among others, who will not have to repay the state. Priority is given to providers in reproductive and mental health care, those serving Medicaid-insured patients and individuals with disabilities, and bilingual providers. Treasurer Zach Conine stated that the program aims to retain providers in underserved regions of Nevada, where shortages are prevalent, by offering financial support. The program is expected to assist 75 to 100 individuals and was established through legislation passed two years ago. The goal is to increase the number of healthcare professionals practicing in the state, particularly in areas facing shortages. More information about the Nevada HEAL Program and application details can be found on their website.
