Norway-based Reelwell AS has announced a significant multiyear contract with Vår Energi ASA for its DualLink powered digital drill pipe technology. The initial agreement will cover operations on Vår Energi’s COSLPioneer rig for one year, with the possibility of extending for up to four additional years. The contract also includes the option to expand the scope to encompass all Vår Energi installations across the North Sea.
Reelwell’s DualLink system integrates real-time telemetry with wellbore power, leading to enhanced operational control and uninterrupted power to downhole tools. This technology will improve data transmission, ensuring more precise and reliable operations during drilling and wells processes.
In addition to this contract, Reelwell has partnered with Odfjell Technology, a Scotland-based well services technology provider. Under their collaboration, Odfjell will supply the necessary drill pipe components and accessories for the project, while both companies will manage maintenance requirements and logistics for on-site support.
The joint CEO of Reelwell expressed enthusiasm for the contract with Vår Energi, emphasizing the potential of the DualLink system to revolutionize drilling operations and the entire wells process. The EVP of Well Services at Odfjell Technology also highlighted the benefits of this technology in supporting sustainability objectives by reducing carbon emissions and improving operational efficiency.
In a separate development, Odfjell Technology has entered a cooperation agreement with R&D Solutions, an Australia-based energy industry equipment and services provider, to expand its presence in the Asia Pacific region. This strategic move aligns with Odfjell’s global growth strategy and aims to deliver excellent customer service and solutions to the Australian energy market.
