The University of Nevada, Reno is hosting the Fire Adapted Nevada Summit on March 17-18, aimed at helping communities better protect themselves from wildfires. The Summit, organized by the multiagency partnership Fire Adapted Nevada, will provide attendees with actionable plans, resources, and grants to implement fire-resilient strategies. The event will feature panels, presentations, and workshops to deepen understanding of fire and reduce wildfire risk, as well as a keynote presentation by retired Fire Chief Frank Frievalt.
The Summit will showcase the actions taken by communities such as the East Fork Fire Volunteers and Cold Creek to make their areas safer from wildfire. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with fire agencies and develop plans for their own communities. The event is free to attend, with meals and materials provided, and online pre-registration is required. Funding for the Summit comes from the Bureau of Land Management – Nevada, as well as support from the University, Nevada Division of Forestry, and the U.S. Forest Service.
