The Nevada County Arts Council proudly announced the winners of the 2025 Poetry Out Loud County Championships, held at the Eric Rood Center in Nevada City. Dino Parks, a student from Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning, emerged as the champion with his captivating performances. The first and second runners-up were also from SAEL, showcasing their passion for poetry and performance.
The evening was a celebration of poetry and recognition, with esteemed judges from the literary community evaluating the performances based on various criteria. County Champion Dino Parks expressed his gratitude for the opportunities provided by programs like Poetry Out Loud.
Next, Dino Parks will represent Nevada County at the California Poetry Out Loud State Finals in Sacramento, competing for a chance to advance to the National Finals in Washington, D.C. The Nevada County Arts Council is dedicated to keeping the spirit of poetry alive and encourages schools to participate in future Poetry Out Loud events. The finalists will also have the opportunity to perform at the upcoming Sierra Poetry Festival, showcasing their talent to a larger audience.
