Nevada Sports Net is honoring influential African-American coaches, athletes, or administrators with Northern Nevada ties every Friday in February to celebrate Black History Month. This week, they featured Lauren Green, a former Nevada track and field standout who is now a sideline reporter for the NBA’s Utah Jazz. Green, who always dreamt of covering basketball in the NBA, landed her dream job this year, working alongside seasoned broadcasters Craig Bolerjack and Thurl Bailey.

Green, who graduated from Nevada with degrees in journalism and sports journalism, reflects on her journey from being a college athlete to covering an NBA team. She credits her mentors for guiding her through her first season as an NBA sideline reporter and hopes to inspire future generations of women to pursue their dreams in male-dominated fields.

Green also continues to stay connected to her track and field roots by working as an analyst for the Mountain West Network, highlighting the accomplishments of her former teammates. She emphasizes the importance of hard work and dedication in achieving success, encouraging others to push their boundaries and break down barriers.
