Nevada football’s 2025 recruiting class includes seven players from Northern Nevada high schools, signaling a focus on cultivating local talent. Coach Jeff Choate aims to elevate football in the Reno/Sparks/Tahoe area by working closely with high school coaches and providing opportunities for young players to stay close to home. This emphasis on local recruiting has already seen success, with the addition of five locals in the December signing period and two more this week.
The program’s reinstatement of a recruiting camp for local teams, at the request of Northern Nevada high school coaches, has allowed the Wolf Pack to discover hidden talent like Incline QB Tommy Williams. Choate emphasizes the importance of growing the game and expanding the fan base by recruiting local standouts like Williams and former Truckee standout Marcus Bellon.
The latest recruits, including scholarship players Aiono, Banning, and Stack, along with walk-ons Williams, Kermode, Birnbaum, and Ramsey, bring leadership and winning qualities. Choate identifies quarterbacks as key leaders and is excited about the potential of Williams and Kermode to contribute. Additionally, the addition of semi-local Bryson Snelling from Butte College adds depth and versatility to the defensive backfield.
With a revamped roster and a focus on local talent, the Wolf Pack aims to continue building a winning program under Choate’s leadership. The 2025 recruiting class represents a step towards stability and success as Nevada looks to compete in the Mountain West Conference.
