Protesters rally against Trump at Nevada State Capitol Building | Nevada | News

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Nevada Capitol Building in Carson City to protest against the Trump administration’s recent actions. Among them was Ray Bacasegua, a member of the Indigenous Yaqui tribe and a long-time activist in the American Indian Movement. Bacasegua expressed concern that progress made for Native Americans and all people is being reversed under the current administration.
Protesters spoke out against deportation policies, the removal of workers from the U.S. Agency for International Development, and the role of billionaire Elon Musk in the federal government. Signs read “Make Orwell fiction again” and “Protect the Constitution,” while chants of “fight for your rights” filled the air.
Residents from Carson City and surrounding areas voiced their concerns about the direction the country is taking under Trump’s leadership. Mary Hamilton, an 84-year-old Gardnerville resident, highlighted issues with deportation programs and treatment of transgender individuals. Drew Aschenbrener, a Dayton resident, emphasized the need to push back against the negative energy coming from the White House.
In response to the protests, Nevada GOP Chairman Michael McDonald defended the president, stating that Trump is fulfilling his campaign promises and putting America first. He dismissed the protests as the actions of the “far left” of the Democratic party. McDonald emphasized that Trump is following through on his pledges and getting to work on behalf of the American people.
