A wind advisory is in effect for parts of western Nevada Basin and Range, including Pyramid Lake, Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area, and Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties. South to southwest winds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, and up to 65 mph in wind-prone areas, are expected until 10 PM PST. This could lead to objects being blown around, tree limbs falling, and potential power outages. Additionally, waves of 2-4 feet are anticipated on Pyramid Lake due to southwest winds of 20-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Special caution is advised for areas affected by the Davis Fire burn area, where winds may knock down burned trees. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items, stock up on food and water, and have emergency supplies ready in case of power outages. Drivers should also exercise caution, as winds could reach up to 65 mph in certain areas.
