Cedar Mill and Bethany Community Libraries are expanding their technology-focused programs and educational events for patrons through new partnerships with local and national organizations. The libraries are offering one-on-one tech help by appointment with a Digital Navigator from American Connection Corps and The Washington County Broadband Action Team. They are also collaborating with Meals on Wheels People to provide technology lectures and workshops for older adults interested in learning more about using technology.
Upcoming events at the libraries include a Google Workspace Lecture, Google Photos Workshop, Getting Started with WhatsApp Workshop, and Intro to Managing Your Privacy Lecture. Community members can register for these programs on the libraries’ website. Additionally, Cedar Mill Library is hosting an Open Technology Lab on select Thursdays for patrons to ask specific technology questions during drop-in sessions.
Erin Bell, Adult Services Librarian at the libraries, emphasized the importance of making technology knowledge accessible to all patrons and bridging the gap in tech knowledge among different generations. All events and services are free and open to the public, with some requiring registration in advance. More information and registration for events can be found on the libraries’ website.
