Nevada men’s basketball came out on top in a hard-fought battle against their Silver State rivals, the UNLV Rebels, with a final score of 71-65. Led by Nick Davidson with 14 points, the Wolf Pack had three other players scoring in double digits. Overall, Nevada displayed a strong performance with 25 points off the bench and an impressive 85 percent free-throw percentage.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams exchanging the lead throughout the first half. Despite falling behind early, Nevada managed to take a narrow lead going into halftime. Kobe Sanders, who had a quiet first half, stepped up in the second half, scoring 13 crucial points.
In the final minutes of the game, the Rebels made a push with a 6-0 run, but Nevada responded with a 3-pointer from Xavier DuSell to reclaim the lead. The Wolf Pack tightened up their defense and closed out the game with a 6-0 run of their own to secure the victory.
With this win, Nevada improved to 12-10 overall and 4-7 in the Mountain West conference, while UNLV fell to 11-11 overall and 5-6 in conference play. The Wolf Pack will look to build on this momentum as they take on the Air Force Falcons on February 4th.
