Israeli forces demolish multiple homes in Jenin city in the West Bank

The Israeli military carried out simultaneous explosions on homes and buildings in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, claiming they were targeting ‘terror infrastructure.’ Local media reported around 20 buildings were destroyed in the attacks, which extended into a second week of military operations in the urban refugee camp.

The Jenin refugee camp was established after thousands of Palestinians were forced from their homes in 1948 and settled in the area, where their families still reside today. Following the ceasefire in Gaza, Israel launched the operation targeting Iran-backed militant groups, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that five Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Saturday, with a total of at least 18 Palestinians, including a two-year-old girl, killed in the refugee camp prior to that.

The West Bank has been under Israeli occupation since 1967, with the establishment of Jewish settlements in the region considered illegal under international law. The ongoing military operations in Jenin, which have resulted in significant destruction and loss of life, have raised concerns and condemnation from various international organizations and human rights groups.

The Israeli military’s actions in the Jenin refugee camp have sparked outrage and calls for accountability, with concerns about the impact on civilians living in the area. As the situation continues to unfold, there are growing calls for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and for the protection of the rights and safety of all individuals involved.
