Magdalene George, a sophomore at Nevada, has established herself as one of the fastest sprinters in college track and field. Hailing from Nigeria, she has set three school records and achieved impressive national rankings in events such as the 60-meter and 200-meter sprints. For her outstanding performance in January, she has been named the Wolf Pack Athlete of the Month by Nevada Sports Net.
In an interview, George shared her journey in track and field, from starting at a young age to being recruited to run for Nevada by Coach Scott Williamson. Despite initial reservations about Reno’s cold weather, she has acclimated to the city and its track and field facilities, including the recently opened $5 million track at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
George credits her success on the track to her faith and dedication to training, as well as the support of her family and coaches. She plans to pursue a career in business management and hopes to work with athletes and businesses as an entrepreneur after she finishes her collegiate running career.
With an impressive list of accomplishments and a bright future ahead, Magdalene George continues to make her mark in the world of college track and field, representing Nevada with pride and determination.
