Fourth American prisoner-hostage exchange

Red Cross officials arrived in Gaza City to pick up Keith Siegel, an Israeli American hostage, in an orderly manner with no chaos or violence. The exchange was calm, unlike previous instances, which had angered many in Israel. Siegel was paraded on stage before being transferred to Red Cross vehicles. 183 Palestinian prisoners and detainees were also expected to be released in exchange for the hostages. Ofir Kalderon and Yarden Bibas, two other hostages, were already handed over earlier in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. Questions remain about the fate of Bibas’ wife and two young sons who were also taken hostage. The Red Cross vehicles have arrived at the Port of Gaza to receive Siegel. Siegel’s wife, Aviva, is on her way to meet him. Hamas militants awaited the Red Cross at the Gaza Port. The exchange was live on TV, showing the transfer of Bibas and Kalderon. The Israeli military confirmed receiving two of the hostages and stated that the third, Siegel, is expected to also be released soon. The exchange was part of a larger hostage-prisoner exchange deal with Israel. Siegel along with Bibas and Kalderon were named by Hamas to be released. Siegel was taken from a kibbutz in southern Israel during a previous attack by Hamas.
