Freshman Orientation: Cinthia Moore hopes to spread the American dream in Nevada

Assemblywoman Cinthia Moore of Las Vegas, a Democrat, has succeeded Assemblywoman Bea Duran. Moore represents Assembly District 11, where 43% are Democrats, 37% are nonpartisans, and 11% are Republicans. Moore won the general election with 68% of the vote and will sit on several committees.

Moore’s family moved to the U.S. from Mexico in pursuit of a better life, eventually settling in Las Vegas. She was motivated to run for office by the struggles of renters in her community. Moore, a single mother and real estate agent, has deep roots in her neighborhood and believes she can be a voice for her community in Carson City.

Moore’s key issues include education, healthcare, housing, gun reform, and the environment. She supports proposals such as reinstating universal free lunches in schools, expanding Medicaid coverage, implementing rent caps for seniors, and banning certain gun sales to people under 21. As a former leader of an environmental advocacy group, Moore is also passionate about environmental justice legislation.
