The Associated Students of the University of Nevada, Reno made significant changes during their recent senate meeting on Jan. 22. The Department of Programming appointed new leadership to address issues with event planning, particularly concerning the Welcome Week Concert. Greydon Geil was confirmed as the new Assistant Director of Budget and Assessment, with plans to improve transparency in how ASUN funds are spent.
Additionally, the Committee on Democratic and Civic Engagement welcomed Ethan McNamara as the new chair, along with a new bill to reform liaison positions within the committee. The Attorney General position was filled by Antony Kuhl, who emphasized following the Nevada Open Meeting Law to ensure transparency in ASUN operations.
Kennedy Taylor was confirmed as the new director of the Department of Government Affairs, responsible for overseeing political efforts outside the university. Student fees were a topic of concern, with the confirmation of new liaisons to monitor local government and report any changes that may impact students.
In other news, ASUN’s vice president announced the launch of new student discounts as part of the Pack-Friendly Business program. These changes aim to improve communication, transparency, and engagement within the university community.
