Acting U.S. attorney reports Nevada district’s collection of $6.4M from legal actions in FY24


The District of Nevada, under Acting U.S. Attorney Sue Fahami, announced the collection of $6,485,417.91 in criminal and civil actions in Fiscal Year 2024. Of this amount, $3,556,959.50 was collected in criminal actions and $2,928,458.41 in civil actions. Additionally, the district worked with other U.S. Attorney’s Offices to collect an additional $228,340.11, with $97,396.11 from criminal actions and $130,944.00 from civil actions. In June 2024, $2.1 million was recovered from El Aero Services, LLC as part of a settlement concerning the Sheep Creek Fire in 2018.

Through the diligent efforts of the Financial Litigation Unit and Asset Recovery Unit, the District of Nevada ensured court-ordered restitutions and fines were fully recovered for victims of crime and taxpayers. U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and litigating divisions enforce and collect civil and criminal debts owed to the U.S. and victims. Additionally, the district collected $5,438,595 in asset forfeiture actions in FY 2024. Forfeited assets are deposited into the Department of Justice Assets Forfeiture Fund for crime victim restoration and law enforcement purposes.
