Local high school basketball star Jeriah Macias has been named Nevada Sports Net’s “High School Prep of the Week” for his outstanding performance on the court. The Damonte Ranch senior, who started playing basketball at the age of 7 with his dad, has seen a significant improvement in his game from last year when he was named to the all-region first team. Macias is now averaging 21.1 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.2 steals per game, shooting 56 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
Under the leadership of head coach Dillon Voyles, Macias has embraced a new role as a leader for the Mustangs’ roster, especially with eight new faces on the team this season. Despite facing challenges during the offseason, Macias has stepped up to the plate and continues to excel on the court. Last year, he played a key role in leading Damonte Ranch to its first regular-season regional title and a state title game appearance.
Voyles commended Macias for his resilience and ability to adapt to a new role, stating that the senior guard has responded well to the high demands placed on him this season. The coach expressed confidence in Macias’s ability to overcome challenges and continue to achieve great things on the basketball court.
