United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) has announced over $1.2 million in federal funding to support local nonprofits in providing shelter, meals, and utility assistance in response to rising costs. This funding is part of Phase 42 of the FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP). Last year, Nevada 2-1-1 received 122,000 calls from Southern Nevada residents seeking essential help.
Nonprofits have until February 28 to apply for funding, with UWSN serving as the local fiscal agent managing the application process. In collaboration with FEMA, United Way Worldwide, and 22 local nonprofit organizations, UWSN aims to assist over 61,000 Southern Nevadans in need.
Interested organizations must watch a mandatory applicant webinar by the end of February and can find more information on the UWSN website. For questions about the application process, organizations can email EFSP@uwsn.org. This initiative underscores UWSN’s commitment to supporting individuals and families across the region during challenging times.
