Record $80.9M Revenue Generated by Nevada’s Major Football Event in September

Nevada sportsbooks had a record-breaking month in September, raking in $80.9 million in revenue, surpassing the previous high of $72 million set in November 2021. The impressive revenue marked a 29.8% year-over-year increase, with sportsbooks holding 10.57% of the bets, up from 7.86% in September 2023.

Football was a major contributor to the record-breaking month, with the NFL and college football generating $55.8 million on a $486 million handle, thanks to an 11.5% hold. Other sports like baseball also performed well, with a solid 8.4% hold on a $159 million handle, leading to $13.4 million in revenue.

Online sports betting accounted for 63.4% of all wagering, while retail sportsbooks brought in $44.9 million in revenue. The Silver State collected $5.5 million from sports betting in September.

Overall, the sportsbooks saw a 5.7% decrease in handle compared to the previous year, but the revenue increase more than made up for it. The strong performance in football, baseball, and other sports like soccer, golf, tennis, MMA, boxing, and auto racing contributed to the record-setting month.

The September revenue was up 222.6% month-over-month, with a 67.8% increase in handle. Parlays also added $2.3 million in profits, highlighting a strong overall performance for Nevada sports betting operators.
