Mother from Georgia sentenced to life in prison for murdering her son Quinton Simon, whose body was discovered in a landfill.

Leilani Simon of Georgia was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for the killing of her 20-month-old son, Quinton Simon. Quinton’s remains were found in a landfill after Simon reported him missing in 2022. The Chatham County Judge Tammy Stokes noted the impact Quinton’s death had on the community before sentencing Simon. Simon was convicted of murder, including malice murder, felony murder, concealing the death of another, and making false reports and statements. The indictment alleged that Simon caused Quinton’s death with an unknown object and dumped his body in a trash bin. Simon nodded in acknowledgment as the sentence was read but did not speak. Judge Stokes ended the hearing by expressing a wish for peace. The case left many individuals and the community in shock, highlighting the tragic consequences of Simon’s actions.
